Arianna Aviram: I’m a pretty big nerd and love things that are detail oriented and really challenge the The specials 45 years 1977 2022 thank you for the memories signatures shirt Besides,I will do this norm. When I researched all of Style.com and found Martin Margiela, I was truly obsessed. I remember looking through the internet in-depth to find out everything I could about the mysterious Margiela, and I wanted to replace everything in my closet with his work. I walked into Ina in Chelsea one day in 2013 and saw a black viscose dress with exposed white knotted threads interspersed on the front of the dress—the back had the iconic four stitches. I later found out it was from the spring 2004 collection, and thus began my obsession with collecting Margiela, which ultimately transformed into my infatuation with Rei Kawakubo, which still continues today. From Undercover, I have both dresses from look 10 of spring 2004. It was one of the earliest pieces I bought from Undercover and for a steal—$50 on eBay. From Comme des Garçons, I would choose a piece I’ve had in my archive for a little while but actually have only worn only once. They are a pair of square leather loafers with wooden bottoms from the spring 1984 collection. They can be worn as loafers, or you can fold the back of the shoe and wear it as a mule. Usually I pride myself on actually wearing the pieces in my archive, but these are so special to me that I am happy just to look at them. Rei’s work from the 1980s is very different from how she designed in the 1990s and later.

From Junya Watanabe, I would take a dress from the The specials 45 years 1977 2022 thank you for the memories signatures shirt Besides,I will do this spring 2003 Parachute collection. This dress was the first expensive dress I ever bought myself, and I love the adjustable buckle detailing, thin nylon fabric, cutouts, and architectural shape. I bought this from my friend Lydia in Canada for my birthday, and she wrote me the sweetest note. From Prada, it’d be a pair of fall 2005 leather opera gloves given to me by my family for my birthday last year. Something is so elegant about them; I love the styling potential. And lastly, from Issey Miyake, the era I love the most is Naoki Takizawa’s time as creative director. He really combines sensuality and textile experimentation, and this is really prevalent in the spring/summer 2006 collection, inspired by Martin Denny’s Exotica. I have the sample of one of the last looks of the show: The dress is long and asymmetrical, and it is printed to mimic a bamboo leaf with diagonal rattan-like rope detail, similar to a bamboo stem.
